It’s pretty cold this time of year here in Idaho…so this family’s was smart to bundle up and use lots of layers to stay nice and warm. Since I typically shoot just before sunset, the temperatures tend to drop significantly then. Which can cause younger kiddos to complain and lose interest in the session quick.
While many families might think it’s the worst time to schedule a family session…this time actually brings with it some wonderful advantages:
- Locations aren’t as crowded
- Winter brings better lighting
- Layered clothing looks great on camera {like this family wore}
- Flexible booking since I’m not as busy
- Trees lose their branches which means better visibility of buildings in the background {as seen here with downtown Boise visible in the background}
So if you find yourself too busy around the holidays to schedule in your family photos before get end of the year…consider doing them after the first of the year when demands of the holidays are over!
